Reactive Power plays a crucial role in the stability of the electricity grid. In the past it has been provided by conventional power plants but as the proportion of these will decrease renewable energy plants will have to contribute reactive power for the system stability of the electricity grid in future.

Blindleister makes this market-based procurement of reactive power from renewable energy plants in the German electricity system possible for the first time. Blindleister's software optimizes the control of wind, solar and battery parks with regard to their reactive power potential. The local reactive power potentials can then be combined and put out to tender on the market and create new revenue streams for renewable power plants.
