Danfoss has decided to become CO2 neutral in all of the company’s global operations at the latest by 2030. Now, additional activities are initiated to further reduce energy consumption and transition the remaining energy demand at all Danfoss operations towards renewable energy. “Focusing on energy efficiency, sector coupling and electrification are the key steps to a sustainable future“, says Kim Fausing, President & CEO of the Danfoss Group. “Driving electrification and integrate renewable energy is how we take climate action and reach our targets.“
In 2016, Danfoss joined the EP100 initiative oft he Climate Group that targets to double the company’s energy productivity before 2030 from 2007 levels, and today Danfoss has already improved its energy productivity by 80%. The corporation is now working on detailed plans to further reduce the consumption of energy, for example by using surplus energy from process heat in production and datacenters. Furthermore, Danfoss wants to transform its own company car fleet to be electric when infrastructure becomes available and latest by 2030.
To further emphasize ist commitment to combat global heating, the group signed up for both the RE100 and EV100 initiatives of The Climate Group. In addition, Danfoss is joining the „Business Ambition for 1.5°C — Our Only Future” which is a joint initiative by United Nations Global Compact, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the We Mean Business coalition. The initiative is ambitious to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. (SP)
