EuPD Research analyzed consumers' decision-making behavior regarding the purchase of a climate-friendly heating system as part of the study "Heat Transition in Germany - A Status and Potential Analysis of the German Heating Market". The aim of the study is to determine which technologies are most relevant, when and why potential customers decide against purchasing, and where there is a lack of detailed information.
The survey of more than 10,000 people has shown that solar thermal systems and heat pumps are the most relevant technologies in the medium to long run from the customer's perspective. For example, 16% respectively 18% said they might acquire such a system within the next 12 to 24 months. Mini-/micro-CHPs and pellet heating systems are behind with 12%. However, it also shows that the level of knowledge in regard of the four technologies is very different. 43% of the respondents do not know mini-/micro-CHPs; however, according to their statements, about one-third of the respondents are (very) familiar with the other technologies.
The development of the product- and service portfolio of energy utilities in the DACH region will also be examined in 2019 as part of the Energy Transition Award („Energiewende Award“). The best energy providers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are honored with the award at the innovation platform The smarter E Europe in Munich, which not only includes the well-known trade fairs Intersolar Europe and ees Europe, but also the new trade fairs Power2Drive Europe and EM-Power. The initiators of this initiative are the DCTI German CleanTech Institute, The smarter E Europe and EuPD Research.
