One of our key concerns as organizers of The smarter E Europe, the continent’s largest alliance of exhibitions for the energy industry, is ensuring our events are more and more sustainable. We see sustainability as more than just a goal. To us, it is a continuous process that is anchored in our approach to all areas of our business.
Exhibitions are so much more than just meeting points. They are where knowledge is shared, progress is made and markets are opened up. And where momentum is created to drive transformation in numerous areas. We take this responsibility very seriously and work hard to make sure we are doing our bit.
To do this claim justice, we are continuously striving to make The smarter E Europe more and more sustainable. From resource-conserving booth designs to climate-friendly mobility services and sustainable catering, we focus on solutions that truly make an impact. We are also systematically reducing single-use materials and promoting reusable systems. Because we know that every little helps.
Sustainability is a path that we are walking together with our partners, exhibitors and visitors. Step by step, and hand in hand. And that is how we are not only making our events that little bit better, but also the world around us.
To promote sustainability at our events, we consider various aspects of the exhibitions and continuously put measures in place to make them more environment-friendly and more sustainable.
We use wooden parts and reusable modules and reduce the use of carpet to minimize our ecological footprint. We have not used carpeting in entrances or hall aisles since 2021.
Most of our marketing materials are digital. Printed materials that are necessary are either carbon offset or made from recycled materials. We have largely eliminated giveaways or made sure that they are long-lasting and genuinely useful. Our lanyards are made from recycled PET and will be recycled again after the event.
We make sure we provide reusable dishes and bottles and offer regional and seasonal foods. Fill your own bottle at the water fountains in our forums and trade press booths. You can also get one of our limited water bottles at the event.
We support low-emission travel services with the DB Event Ticket.
We are constantly reviewing and optimizing our work processes, and we work almost entirely without paper. For events, we try to use regional and seasonal products and avoid disposable tableware.
We have already taken some important steps, but we are determined to keep moving forward with our efforts to make our events more sustainable. We really value your input and encourage you to share your ideas with us.
