As a digital green electricity provider and pioneer of dynamic tariffs, Tibber has been helping its customers in Germany to save electricity and make a contribution to the energy transition since 2020.
The vision: Using technology and smart devices to promote efficient and green electricity consumption in private households to enable a fossil-free and sustainable future. To achieve this, Tibber buys electricity on the electricity exchange and passes it on to its users – plus fees and charges – without a profit margin. The Tibber app not only offers transparency, but also the right tools to both save electricity and make greater use of periods of cheap and green electricity. In order to enable the widespread use of dynamic tariffs, Tibber is actively promoting the smart meter rollout and is promoting this as part of the Smart-Meter-Initiative, which aims to drive forward the smart meter rollout in Germany even before the start of the official rollout in 2025.
Tibber was founded in 2016 by Daniel Lindén and Edgeir Vårdal Aksnes and is currently active in Germany, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands. Merlin Lauenburg is head of Germany.
