Home Energy Management Systems - From Comfort Feature to Market Enabler for Residential Energy Storage

Montag, 22. Juni 2026, 15:45 - 16:45 Uhr

ICM München Raum 13 A

Bitte beachten Sie, dass alle Konferenzsessions in englischer Sprache abgehalten werden. The decentralized energy transition is entering a new phase: moving away from fixed feed-in tariffs toward market-based solutions and intelligent grid integration. In this context, Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) combined with residential energy storage, are evolving from convenience and optimization tools into critical enablers of prosumer profitability. Opportunities arise from enhanced self-consumption optimization and the growing relevance of front-of-the-meter use cases such as direct marketing. However, challenges loom: a potential slowdown in new PV and residential storage installations and intensifying competition between large national installer platforms, independent HEMS-only players and OEMs in an increasingly crowded market. This session will analyze emerging business models, the competitive landscape and key success factors for HEMS providers in this pivotal market shift.

Joint Session
Electric Vehicle Grid Integration - Scaling up Flexibility

Montag, 22. Juni 2026, 14:15 - 15:15 Uhr

ICM München Raum 4

Bitte beachten Sie, dass alle Konferenzsessions in englischer Sprache abgehalten werden. As the number of electric fleets, depots and fast-charging hubs is rising across Europe, grid integration is becoming increasingly important. Large charging sites can either strain local feeders or become controllable and flexible loads that support grid stability if managed smartly. This session highlights the latest experiences from utility companies, network operators, fleet managers and technology providers who are turning e-mobility into an active part of the power system. We will explore how to align charging demand with grid capacity and market signals and also how we can successfully scale up e-mobility with increased demand-side flexibility. What are some best practices already in use? The panelists will also discuss the economic benefits for aggregators and end users as well as the organizational and regulatory conditions that are needed to transition from 'plugging in' to paying off through smart and bidirectional charging. The panel will highlight best practices for integrating demand-side flexibility into a resilient energy system.
