Redispatch 2.0 - Essential Measures for the Smart Grid of Tomorrow

Free Webinar

Tuesday, December 15, 2020 | 11:00am–12:00am | Webinar Language: German

Forecasts that are as accurate as possible are essential for helping grid operators meet the new legal requirements for managing grid congestion (Redispatch 2.0), which take effect on October 1, 2021. While redispatching was previously required only for conventional power generation systems with more than 10 megawatts of capacity, the new requirements will also apply to systems for generating renewable power as well as energy storage systems and cogeneration plants with more than 100 kilowatts of capacity. Predicted load profiles for generation plants and electrical devices will be used to prepare grid analyses that can help identify congestion early on, allowing for preemptive measures to be taken. Such an approach requires uniform standards for data exchange as well as automated, digital data delivery, which presents a significant challenge for smaller distribution system operators in particular. In order to develop solutions such as a common software program, German grid operators are collaborating as part of the nationwide project “Connect+.”

In this webinar, a grid operator will show how Redispatch 2.0 can be implemented in the distribution grid. The firm FGH GmbH will highlight how R&D services in the areas of electrical energy supply can be put into practice and EnBW will present its NETZliveX Redispatch 2.0 solution, which supports data exchange with Connect+ and DA/RE. The webinar will be moderated by TransnetBW GmbH.

During the webinar participants can submit their questions to get them answered by the experts in the live Q&A. In addition, both the recording and the speakers' presentations are made available to all registrants after the webinar.

Our Guests

Stephan Brandt, Project Manager for operational planning processes in distribution networks, FGH GmbH

Stephan Brandt has been working in the department of grid integration of generation plants, storage facilities and charging points at the FGH since 2013 and took over the deputy department management in 2020. Currently, he is working on solution concepts for Redispatch 2.0 requirements as well as technical consulting for national and international network operators in the context of network integration of decentralized generation plants, storage facilities and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
Prior to that, he was responsible for a multi-year project on the technical evaluation and quality assurance of conversion measures within the framework of the System Stability Ordinance for several German transmission system operators.
Furthermore, during his time at the FGH, Mr. Brandt has assumed expert activities in the context of the evaluation of technical useful lives of secondary technology equipment, the simulation of electrical properties for grid connection testing, the analysis and optimization of reactive power flows in distribution grids as well as the design of protection concepts.
His practical experience is complemented by the supervision of various scientific theses in cooperation with the RWTH Aachen University.

Mauro Andrés Valdivia Diaz, Senior Account Manager, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG

Mauro Andrés Valdivia Diaz has been working for EnBW AG since the beginning of 2020, active in the business unit Operations, Sales Services. He accompanies interested parties, public utilities and energy supply companies on their journey of digitalization in the energy industry. Mr. Valdivia Diaz is responsible for the successful marketing of energy-related processing services, the cloud energy provider platform EnPowerX, smart metering systems, smart services and innovations in the greater East German region. Here new digitization products are always in the foreground, such as the current innovative EnBW solution NETZliveX Redispatch 2.0, which fulfills all important functionalities for solving Redispatch 2.0 requirements.

Florian Gutekunst, Project Manager „DA/RE – Die Netzsicherheits-Initiative BW“ and Program Manager Platforms, TransnetBW GmbH

Florian Gutekunst has been working for TransnetBW GmbH since 2016 in the field of network management. Since 2018 he has been active there as project manager for "DA/RE - Die Netzsicherheits-Initiative BW" and program manager for platforms. Before that, after studying technical cybernetics at the Institute of Combustion and Power Plant Technology at the University of Stuttgart, he worked as a research assistant and head of the Department of Power Generation and Automation Technology. As a transmission system operator, TransnetBW stands for a secure and reliable supply of electricity to around eleven million people in Baden-Württemberg and ensures the operation, maintenance, planning and demand-oriented expansion of the transport network of the future.
